Here is the finished painting (see Jan. 29). Very pink and light orange. You just never know what's going to happen with these things. It's fun to get into such an unusual color palette; it's like waking up in a foreign country, wearing a dress! Not that I would necessarily know what that is like. OK, time to shut up. Painting completed Feb. 12, 2011. NFS.

  1. 'Thinking in English' is a piece of writing i've worked on for some years. A woman wakes up in a foreign country, Sudan & is wearing a dress she does not recognize, realizing soon she is a woman with her own consciousness, from her life back in Albany Calif. she finds herself on the run from the Jihad soldiers and living within a group of feminist women, that do exist as a cult in Sudan called "Zar". She now has 4 children to protect..a sister who is gone mad & magical happenings all around her dire circumstances.
It was fairly extraordinary when i looked at this & saw your painting and words with it. depicting the exact circumstance that takes place at the start of my book. The desert, veils flowing, the tangent whimper of awakening in the spirals of the heat like a mirage with provocative twists within Abba's inner mind as she comes to deeper realizations. If i ever publish my book i'd like this as a cover. Love this.
